In 2013, Md Syful Islam founded Light Technologies with a straightforward mission: to deliver world-class software solutions to businesses in Bangladesh. No overseas call centers. No cookie-cutter templates. Just well-built software, delivered by a team that understands the local market, supported by people who speak your language.
Twelve years later, that mission has not changed. But almost everything else has.
Where We Started
Light Technologies began as a small web development shop in Dhaka. Our first projects were business websites and simple web applications for local companies. The team was small — a handful of developers and one person handling everything else.
What we had from the beginning was a commitment to quality and a genuine interest in understanding our clients' businesses. We did not just build what clients asked for — we asked why they needed it, what problem it was solving, and whether there was a better way to solve it. That approach built trust, and trust built the business.
Building Our Product Portfolio
The shift from pure services to software products came gradually, driven by client needs. We kept building similar systems for different clients — school management systems, HR systems, POS systems — and realized we could build better, more comprehensive products if we invested in them properly rather than rebuilding from scratch each time.
Today, our product portfolio includes Edu Plus EMS, Edu Plus LMS, HRM, ERP Production, Pharma Plus, Hospital Management, Hotel & Resorts Management, Restaurant Management, POS, and more — covering education, healthcare, hospitality, manufacturing, and retail sectors.
The Team That Makes It Happen
Light Technologies today has a team of 19 people — developers, designers, marketers, project managers, and operations staff. Every person on the team was hired because they are good at what they do and because they care about the work.
Our CTO, Md Mojahedul Islam, has been with the company since the early days and has shaped our technical direction through multiple generations of technology. Our senior developers — Abu Sayem Bhuiyan and Md. Mahmudul Hasan — have built systems that serve thousands of users every day. Our project manager, Javer Hossain, ensures that what we promise gets delivered.
What We Have Learned
Twelve years of building software for Bangladeshi businesses has taught us a few things:
- Local context matters enormously. Software built without understanding the Bangladeshi business environment — NBR tax rules, bKash payment behavior, biometric attendance requirements, madrasa curriculum structures — does not work well here. We build for Bangladesh, not for a generic global market.
- Support is as important as the software. The best software in the world fails if users cannot get help when they need it. Our local support team — reachable in Bangla and English — is one of our most important competitive advantages.
- Long-term relationships beat one-time projects. Our best clients are the ones we have worked with for years — growing with them, adding features as their needs evolve, and becoming a genuine technology partner rather than just a vendor.
What Is Next
We are investing in expanding our product portfolio, deepening our industry expertise, and building the team that will take Light Technologies through the next decade. The Bangladeshi technology market is growing fast — and we intend to grow with it.
To every client, partner, and team member who has been part of this journey: thank you. The best is still ahead.
